Extension activities in the neighborhood community in terms of impact and sensitizing students to social issues and holistic development during the last five years

Our college inculcates social value and responsibilities to the faculty members and students by imparting extension activities in the neighborhood for holistic development of the society. Through extension and outreach programs, we sensitize the students to develop social values, widespread their responsibilities and knowledge in societal issues and problems by making them to involve with the community people. Through this, we establish a good relationship with local community organization and serve the community. Above all, the students get hold of social justice, value, responsibility and sustainability. In order to sensitize students and the community through students, various activities were organized by NSS, Women Cell and other departments on social issues. During the last five years, The NSS unit of our college take part in various initiatives like organizing camps, Swachh Bharat initiatives, Cashless free India, “Beti-Bachao, Beti Padhao”, “Power to Vote”, “Traffic-Rules”, blood donation camps, awareness programmes on AIDS prevention etc. Apart from them, National Service Scheme also serve the society through One-day and Special Camp. In addition, outreach programs and invited lectures are also given to the community.A seven day NSS camp has been organised in January 2018 .One Day National Seminar organized by Government College Nalwa on the topic “TRANSPORTING INDIA TO 2030: ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND CHALLENGES’’ 9th February 2019. The seminar was organized as a medium by which there could be a free exchange of information on about the concern of our Society in protecting our environment and the challenges involved in Environmental Protection and management .A Workshop of ‘Art and Craft’ was organized by women cell. It was a 3-day Workshop 16th Jan to 18th Jan 2018 .On 7th March 2019 women cell of the college organized a one-day Health check-up camp for the girl students. A team of doctors from PHC, Nalwa was called to conduct the checkup of the students. Events like International Yoga Day, Traffic education week, Constitution Day ,Celebration of International Literacy Day , International women Day see large participation of the students to spread awareness. Blood donation camps in the College area regular feature whereby students and staff donate blood for the cause. The camps facilitate blood drawn up to 37 units in 2017-18 and 39 units in 2018-19.On the occasion of “International Women’s Day ’’ on 8th march 2019women cell of the college organized a Extension lecture to boost the moral of the girls students . Dr. S.S. Ranga ,director of Akashwani , Hissar was the key speaker of the session .The World Health Day weeklong activities from 8th to 15th april 2019 were observed by Red Ribbon Club in the college. Women cell of the college organized a one-day Health check-up camp and awareness about adolescence in 2016-17 sessions for the girl students. Extension lecture on “GANDHI JAYANTI AND SANITATION DAY” and a rally was organized by NSS Unit in 2015-16 in College.
