An online extension lecture was organized in Government College Nalwa on 21-05-2022 by Department of Chemistry for science students on the Topic “Future in Science” as a part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’s Celebration”. Dr. Rekha Gaba, Head, Department of Chemistry, DAV University Jalandhar (Punjab) was the keynote speaker of this extension lecture. Convener Dr. Sudesh Rathi told that the main objective of organizing this extension lecture was to aware the students about career options available for Science stream students. Dr. Rekha discussed various options available for the science students after the completion of B.Sc degree. They have an option to pursue a post graduation degree in their respective field, go in a research area and can even look for professional job oriented courses. Students can also join non-science master degree courses such as animation, management, journalism, computer technology etc. Almost every technological and medical innovation in the world has its roots in a science. The faster science moves, the faster the world moves. She further said that science is an enormously broad discipline with various subdivisions. Natural sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), formal sciences (Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science, Logic), Engineering, Medical Science, and even more advanced fields like data science, robotics etc. Naturally, the spectrum of employment options in science is also quite broad and diverse. B.Sc graduates have a wide variety of options available in terms of topics, subjects, & field. Principal Mrs. Leena Kajal motivated the students to attend such type of lectures and said that such type of extension lectures should be organized in the institution time to time.
